Lalit Pandit is a music composer of Bollywood and was born in a Mewati Gharana family at Jodhpur in Rajasthan. He is Pandit Jasraj’s nephew. He was trained by his father Pandit Pratap Narayan. He is influenced on guitar and piano by , and was trained by them as well. His acclaimed fame came initially in the 90’s when he worked together with his elder brother Jatin, and they were professionally called together as . They together started their career in 1991, as music composers, in the movie ‘Yaara Dildaara’. The Online voters have voted the duo’s recording of the movie, ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge’, as the All-time Top Hindi soundtrack. This voting was conducted by the BBC Asian Network. Lalit performed in the movie ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar’ during the song ‘Humse Hai Saara Jahaan’, as a guy playing the guitar along with his brother Jatin. Together they judged several popular television shows of reality singing contests including ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’ and the Sony TV aired and hosted by , ‘Waar Pariwaar’. The shows also enjoyed a worldwide Indian audience. Then came in 2008, ‘Rafoo Chakkar: Fun on the Run’, directed by B H . ‘Mr. White Mr. Black’ came in the year 2008, directed by , and Lalit has joined hands with , and also with , his brother Jatin’s name being also mentioned as one of the music composers. Next came the movie, ‘Red Alert: The War Within’ 2009, and he had collaborated with Javed Aktar in composing the music. ‘Horn 'Ok' Pleassss’ of the same year was the movie directed by . In this movie, he had scored along with and , along with . ‘’ 2010 directed by , ‘’ of the same year but directed by , the directed movie of the same year, ‘’, the movie ‘’, which was directed by , and where and collaborated with him in the composing of music, are the hits movies of Lalit Pandit. Worthwhile to mention here would also be the movie, ‘’ 2011, which was directed by , the 2013 movie ‘’, and the 2014 movie ‘’, directed by V.K. Singh and produced by Naresh Gupta in which Lalit Pandit shared the composing part with and the duo Nitz ‘N’ Sony; Nitz for , and Sony for Sony Chandy. In 2010, he has received IIFA Awards for Best Music Direction for the movie ‘Dabangg’ and Zee Cine Awards under the category, ‘Song Of The Year’ for the song ‘Munni Badnaam’ in the same movie. In 2011, he has received the GiMA Award for Best Music Direction, again for scoring the movie Dabangg. His most successful number can be said as, ‘Munni Badnaam Hui’ in the movie Dabangg that was released in 2010. He was awarded the Filmfare Award for Best Music Director with in 2011 for the same song, same movie.
