Plot
Heer Chawla, an aimless heir to a sweetmeat enterprise, meets Iraa, an IAS aspirant. Both fall for each other, with Heer aiming to support her aspirations. However, things get complicated when the families are informed of Iraa’s ‘pregnancy’. How do they get out of this mess?
Star Performances
The musical soundtrack of this film, if not memorable, is at least likable.
For a novice, Guru Randhawa has done surprisingly well. He is complimented by the acting performances of Anupam Kher, Ila Arun, and even Brahmanandam, who has a nice cameo.
Analysis
A couple ‘faking the pregnancy’ to save their face? This is probably the plot of every tenth Indian commercial potboiler. So, what makes ‘Kuch Khatta Ho Jaay’ any different?
Well, two things. One, the protagonist is not a bumbling buffoon who makes women around him uncomfortable. He supports the aspirations of his sweetheart, even though his tactics may not always work. His grandfather may not be the most progressive of all people, but is certainly large-hearted.
Yet, ‘Kuch Khatta Ho Jaay’, despite having the right recipe for the sweetest of all romantic comedies, turns out to be just average. This is because the writers couldn’t think beyond the regular tropes. After almost three decades, popular comedian Brahmanandam made his appearance in a Hindi movie. Yet, his appearance wasn’t made a good use of.
In some places, even the acting of Anupam Kher and Ila Arun, despite their earnest efforts, looked awkward and out of place. While Guru Randhawa didn’t turn out to be as bad as

Verdict
‘Kuch Khattaa Ho Jaay’ is a rom-com that could have gone places, had the writers focused a little on making a tighter, more effective screenplay. The only saving graces for this film are its soundtrack and some of the acting performances. In a way, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that Guru Randhawa deserved a better acting debut!  Â
