Plot

The first story, Hud Hud Dabangg, deals with a policeman who had been on desk duty for nearly 25 years and was given an important duty to take a prisoner to court. He was provided a gun loaded with a bullet. The following events form the rest of the story.

The second story, Dharna Mana Hai, is about a scheduled caste couple. A scheduled caste lady becomes a first-time member of the Sarpanch. However, she doesn’t have any power. She decides to make a silent protest with her husband before the DDO office to fight the prejudice.

Sanitized Samachar is the last story in the anthology about a local news channel. During COVID-19, the local channel was unable to meet its ends as its star anchor was affected by the coronavirus. But they hope that everything will get solved as a sponsor is ready to help.

Star Performance

Johny Lever delivers an effortless performance as a cop. Jisshu is equally impressive. Both their performances in the first story are astounding.

Nimisha Sajayan’s performance is fantastic. There are no dialogues, but she emotes well and gain the appreciation. Jitendra Kumar plays her husband and he shares a good chemistry with her.

Analysis

All the stories are penned well and executed well. The first story with Johny Lever and Jisshu is the top of all of them and is heart-wrenching. The second story was designed well without dialogues. The actors in all the stories are perfectly picked, and they fit well in the given roles. The third story, directed by Bhaskar Hazarika, is interesting, yet the ending is not convincing. The stories discuss the issues in rural India. It should be appreciated that though the stories come with a message, they are not preachy. The cinematography and the production design are impressive. All the stories reveal the bitter truth we have in our system.

Though the anthology has a few shortcomings, these movies are interesting to watch.
