Sandalwood Films That Are Successful Remakes Kannada Article

Good films are being made in Sandalwood now and there is a new wave also in this industry. Young directors give promise, many films become commercial successes and some Sandalwood flicks are being remade too. Now let’s look at some of the successful Sandalwood films that have been remade in other languages too.

1. Mr And Mrs Ramachari

This Yash-Radhika Pandit starrer hit the screens in 2014 and was penned and directed by Santosh Ananddram. The flick was appreciated by the audiences. The plot centers on two youngsters; the lead hero is an unruly person and wayward attitude is being questioned by his ladylove. They part ways only to reconcile later. The flick was remade in Marathi with the name Mr. and Mrs. Ramachari and had Prathana Behere and Vaibbhav Tatwawdi playing the lead roles.

2. Rathavara

Rathavara was released in 2015 and it is an action thriller. The flick revolves around a family feud and had Sri Murali and Rachita Ram essaying lead roles. Sri Murali and Ravishankar clashed in the movie. Sourav Lokesh essayed the role of a transgender in the flick. The flick was a success and now it is learnt that Vishal is remaking the flick and Kannada director Chandrashekar Bandiyappa is helming the project. Ravishankar and Sourav Lokesh also played major roles in the film. The technical aspects of Rathavara were also commendable; the music and BGM attracted the Kannada audiences.

3. Lucia

Lucia, which hit the screens in 2013, is one of the most appreciated movies in present times. The FFI shortlisted this film for Academy Awards during the year 2013. It has a non –linear plot and was well-executed by Pawan Kumar. The flick saw the Tamil screens as Enakkul Oruvan. An insomniac is pushed to purchase a drug, which acts a hindrance for him to distinguish between fiction and reality. And now the movie is also set to be remade in Hindi. The movie had Sathish Ninasam and Sruthi Hariharan in lead roles.

4. Kokila

This film was released in 1977 and Balu Mahendra, who was a cinematographer earlier, debuted with this flick as a director. The flick has Kamal Haasan, Shoba, Mohan and Roja Ramani. The Best Screenplay Award was garnered by this flick from the Karnataka State Film Award. It also ran successfully in Chennai. The movie dealt with the lead hero’s affair with a domestic help at his fiance’s home.While in remade in Hindi as Aur Ek Prem Kahani, it was remade in Malayalam as Oomakkuyil. It was directed in these two languages by Balu Mahendra himself.

5. Chakravyuha

This flick hit the screens on 1983 and had Ambareesh and Ambika in the lead roles. It was directed by V Somasekhar. The flick centers on the life of a cop who is facing tough time due to the acts of politicians. The flick saw the Hindi theatres as Inquilaab and had Amitabh Bachchan and Sridevi in lead roles.
