Numerous actors and actresses have stepped into the world of politics. They start with the belief that their fans will support them, but only a few politicians succeed this way. Many become so successful in their political career that they leave the film industry, while others don’t. Such politicians understand the people better and make changes for them. Here’s a list of the top 10 Indian celebs who are successful politicians

1. Urmila Matondkar

Matondkar joined the Indian National Congress in 2019. She queried from the Mumbai North constituency in the 2019 Lok Sabha Election but lost. On September 10, she was rejected from the party, citing petty internal politics. On December 1, 2020, she joined Shiv Sena. Shiv Sena hoped to add a nationally recognized face and voice, well-knowledgeable in Marathi, Hindi, and English, to represent the party.

2. Sunny Deol

Sunny joined BJP in 2019. He won the Lok Sabha elections from the Gurdaspur constituency against Sunil Jakhar of Congress. Sunny joined the Lok Sabha choices through the Gurdaspur seat. He is determined to do the best for the people. He wants to bring changes that will prove to be beneficial for all.

3. Jaya Prada

Jaya stepped into politics by joining the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in 1994. With the ongoing differences with N. Chandraprabhu Naidu, she left the party and joined the Samajwadi Party. Later, she joined the Bhartiya Janta Party in the presence of Bhpuendra Yadav in 2019. She is said to be a bold and determined politician.

4. Jaya Bachchan

Jaya started her political career in 2004 with the Samajwadi Party. She represented Uttar Pradesh as the Member of Parliament till March 2006. Jaya was identified for the third and fourth term in the Rajya Sabha. She fought for the All India Trinamool Congress in 2021. She has been on a long journey, and her experience speaks for itself.

5. Amitabh Bachchan

Amitabh took a break from acting and joined politics in 1984. He entered politics with the help of his family friend, Rajiv Gandhi. He supported the Samajwadi Party, of which his friend Amar Singh was a member. The actor soon started facing a financial crisis. Later, his wife, Jaya Bachchan, joined the Samajwadi Party.

6. Dharmendra

Dharmendra is one of the most loved and appreciated actors in the industry. He became a Member of the Indian Parliament from the Bharatiya Janata Party, representing Bikaner in Rajasthan from 2004 to 2009. Throughout his political journey, he got highly criticized for speaking controversial statements. He would spend most of his time shooting and did not attend the sessions regularly.

7. Hema Malini

She was nominated by the President of India, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, to serve as the Member of Parliament Rajya Sabha. She was in this post from 2003-2009. She officially joined the Bhartiya Janata Party in 2004. In 2011, Ananth Kumar recommended her as the party general secretary. In the general elections for Lok Sabha in 2014, Malini defeated Jayant Chaudhary by 3,30,743 votes.

8. Kirron Kher

Kirron joined politics in 2009. She became a member of the Bhartiya Janata Party in the same year. During the elections, Kirron campaigned everywhere in the country for the 2011 municipal corporation elections. She won the Indian General elections by 46970 votes. She is willing to work for the welfare of people.

9. Govinda

Govinda stepped into Politics in the year 2004. The actor joined the Congress Party and got elected to the Lok Sabha by 50,000 votes. He was determined to work for the people and worked all the years to do so. He had a feeling of being a misfit in politics. In 2008, he left politics and re-joined Bollywood.

10. Shatrughan Sinha

Shatrughan Sinha is a renowned actor and politician. After giving his precious years in the film industry, he stepped into Politics. Currently, Sinha is a Member of Parliament and Lok Sabha as a member of All India Trinamool Congress (TMC). He got elected as a Member of Parliament and Lok Sabha from Patna Sahib.
