Sunny Deol is a film actor, director and producer. He is best known for his ‘Dhaai Kilo Ka Haath’ dialogue. He was born as Ajay Singh Deol, on 19th of October, 1956, in Sahnewal, Ludhiana, Punjab. He is the eldest son of veteran actor, Dharmendra, and his first wife, Prakash Kaur. Bollywood actor, Bobby Deol, is his younger brother.

He has two sisters, Vijayta and Ajeeta, who are currently settled in California. He also has two half-sisters, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol, from his father’s second marriage to actress, Hema Malini. Sunny studied theatre and acting in England and joined Old Web Theatre in Birmingham before joining Bollywood.

He began his career with the hit film Betaab in the year 1983 which also featured debutante actress Amrita Singh. He was felicitated with the Filmfare Award for Best Debut for the film Betaab. He was considered the best action hero at the time, due to his consequent films such as Arjun (1985), Tridev (1989) and Ghayal (1990). The film Ghayal fetched him many awards. He was given the title of ‘Action King of Bollywood’ after he starred in the movie ‘Border’.

He has also been successful in portraying dramatic and romantic roles. “Gadar: Ek Prem Katha” has been his most successful film until today. He has produced various films under his home banner, Vijayta films. His first directorial venture was with the movie called “Dillagi”, in the year 1999, starring Urmila Matondkar, Bobby Deol and himself.

This movie could not garner enough collections at the box office, though. Sunny Deol is married to Pooja Deol, and they have two sons together, namely, Karan and Rajvir. They live together in their residence in Mumbai. Sunny has won two national awards, one for his role in the film Damini, and the other, for his role in the film Ghayal. He has also won two Filmfare awards.

Sunny was an all-rounder at school. He also happened to be doing engineering. As a child, he was curious about films. He used to watch the same film over and over again. Be it be jumping from the hills, beating up bad people, doing stunts by jumping from the helicopter, he used to image himself as doing the same. He was also featured in action of a science fiction Seven produced by Yash Raj Films under their TV division. In 2014, he played key role in a film known as In The Name Of Jihad also known as Aasma directed by Sudipto Sen. He was also seen in a daily soap, Reporters,( as Manav)which focused on the lives of journalists working for a news channel. Sunny as been growing up as an actor every day. He was also the lead actor for the film, Killing The Rapist directed by Sanjay Chhel. The film was based on Delhi gang rape case of December 2012 He is married to Shinjini Raval. Sunny met Shinjini during his FTII days, and they have been dating since then. He got married to her on 23rd July 2015 in Ahmedabad (Gujrat) 10 years after dating each other.
