. Her daughter-in-law is the former Miss World and Bollywood heartthrob Aishwarya Rai.Â

Jaya Bachchan entered into the film industry with the film Mahanagar when she was a teenager. Later, her first film as an adult was Guddi, which won her the acclaim which she deserved. This film was directed by
Hrishikesh Mukherjee
and later Mrs. Bachchan worked with him in many films. During that time she performed in Hindi films; she maintained her stature as a good artiste and her works are just a glaring proof of that. Her natural style of acting worked in favor of her.Â

When Jaya was at the peak of her career, things took a turn in her personal life too. She was greatly attracted by Amitabh Bachchan and eventually Mr. Bachchan reciprocated her love. They entered into wedlock during the year 1973. The couple is blessed with two children,

In the year 2004, Jaya Bachchan entered into politics; she became a member of Samajwati Party and this had great influence in her life. She was conferred with the Padmashri award during the year 1992. Since July 2004 she has been the Uttar Pradesh Film Development Council’s Chairperson. One fact not known to many is that, Mrs. Bachchan is also a good writer.
