The movie marks the official reunion of Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan after the cult classic ‘Nayakan’, which released in 1987.

Though AR Rahman has been one of the top choices for several Mani Ratnam projects, this would be the first time that Kamal Haasan would be collaborating with both Mani Ratnam and AR Rahman for a common project.

Interestingly, this would also be the reunion of AR Rahman with Kamal Haasan for a common project after 25 years. The last time AR Rahman composed for a Kamal Haasan movie was in the 2000 movie ‘Thenali’, which turned out to be a commercial success.
