Nakshathra Nagesh

Nakshatra Nagesh is an upcoming television personality who is the current co-host of Sun TV’s Sun Singer. After making appearances in a few Tamil language commercials, she essayed the role of Gayathri in the 2013 black comedy film Settai. Settai is the remake of Delhi Belly, a 2011 Hindi movie which created controversy due to the usage of profanity. However, Settai disappointed the viewers who also watched its original version. Critics lamented the fact that the makers presented a lacklustre venture as compared to Delhi Belly. They also said that Settai’s “family- friendly” script could not do justice to that of Imran Khan’s flick. However, Settai’s director R. Kannan defended the changes in the story by stating that everyone could watch the feature with his/her family. Nevertheless, it was a mediocre grosser at the Box-Office. Later, she acted in short films such as Yeno Vaanilai Maruthey and Thotakkal Poovachu. Nakshatra has been successful as a television actress. Nakshatra had hosted Thanthi TV’s Vanavil. Vanavil was a lifestyle show in which Nakshatra went to different regions of the country & world, and explored various aspects of their culture. Vanavil proved to be an informative show for those who are always eager to learn about the world. Later, viewers saw Nakshatra as Rudhra in Raadhika Sarathkumar’s Vani Rani, a family drama. In the show, Raadhika Sarathkumar portrays Vani and Rani, twin sisters who have different mindsets. But at the same time, they are married to two brothers and live in the same house. Nakshatra featured in the serial for a limited number of episodes. As of now, Vani Rani has completed 1000 episodes which is a remarkable achievement in the Tamil TV fraternity. Further, she participated in Jodi Number One, a dance reality show which involved celebrities as well. Nakshatra got Shyam as her partner for the eighth season of the competition. Although the duo had set the stage on fire with their performances, they could not win the contest as the pair of Sofia and Rehman emerged champions. For the past two years, Nakshatra has been hosting Sun Singer, a music talent hunt show which is for children aged between 6 and 13 years. She replaced Aishwarya Prabhakar as the presenter of Sun Singer in its fourth edition. Nakshatra teamed up with Balaji Mohan for the Tamil web series “As I’m Suffering From Kadhal.” People can watch the show on www.hotstar.com as the makers launched all the episodes on the site. As Kadhal means ‘love’ in Tamil, Mohan’s project is about the couples who face problems in their respective relationships.
