Karthik Kumar, a very talented well educated good looking theatre artist was born on November 21, 1977 in a humble middle class family in Chennai. He graduated as a chemical Engineer from Sri Vekateswara college of Engineering, Chennai. Later he did his post graduation in marketing and brand management from Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad.

He has acted in many Tamil films like Alaipayudhe, Veppam, Ninaithale inikkum, Yarade nee mohini etc. He started his own performing arts theatre in 2003 which was name as Evam,because of which he is popularly known as Evam Karthik.

He is also well known for his stand up comic performance. His love for acting started way back when he was in school where he was part of drama club and it continued during his graduation and PG days too. He joined few theatre groups in Chennai which groomed his acting skills. While doing his PG he met his business partner Sunil, together they started a theatre group called Sankalp and later Evam. Evam encourages young theatre artists and has won many awards and accolades.

Now Karthik is performing in a hit TV serial in Vijay TV called Dharmayudham. He is married to Suchitra Ramadurai, whom he met and fell in love with while they were performing in a drama together. He claims that his wife is his pillar of strength and has seen him through his difficult days. Suchitra is a RJ and a singer.
