Nakul was debuted in the 2003 Tamil coming-of-age film, Boys, alongside Siddharth, Bharath, Manikandan, Genelia, and Sai Srinivas Thaman, who are all newcomers in that movie. Nakul’s family sent some pictures of Mayur (his brother) to the office of Shankar, who helmed his debut film.

However, when they saw Nakul in one of the pictures, the director approached him to play the lead role in Boys. Out of all the actors who appeared in the film, only Nakul failed to create a niche as an actor. His next film, Keelu Gurram, where he played a supporting role, also failed at the box office. Due to its success, Sun Pictures distributed his next film, Maasilamani, in 2009. He has paired with Sunaina once again, and the film turned out to be a box office success. In the same year, he starred in the S. Sakthivel’s Kandhakottai, opposite Poorna in the lead roles. Nakul had no film releases in the next four years, though he continued to work on different ventures simultaneously.

The following year, he played as Krishna, a basketball player, in the sports drama film, Vallinam, alongside Mrudhula Basker, who was debuted in this film. It opened to positive reviews from both the audience and critics. In 2015, Nakul performed in the drama thriller film, Tamizhuku En Ondrai Azhuthavum, which earned positive reviews and became a blockbuster.

This 2016, he was seen in Vetrivel Film International’s Narathan, which opened to negative reviews. In 2011, he started filming K.S. Adhiyaman’s Amali Thumali alongside Shanthanu in the lead roles.
