Dhivyadharshini is a Tamil TV show host and compere. She is well known throughout Tamil Nadu as ‘DD’. Many newspapers praise her as the most successful compere in the history of Tamil TV industry. She came into this field under the compulsion to make her elder sister and brother study and to meet her family’s ends.

Dhivyadharshini was born in Chennai to Tamil Brahmin parents. She lost her dad at an early age and she entered the TV industry when she was 14. She acquired the chance to host Vijay TV’s ‘UngalTheerpu’. The bubbly actress was loved by everyone on the sets who predicted a history behind her. She was never let go from her alma mater Vijay TV though she had acted in serials in other channels too. 

K.Balachander made her debut in serials through his ‘Rekkai Kattiya Manasu’ in Raj TV and the positive reviews she got on account of her good performances gained her a wild card into the silver screen. She featured in Kamal Hassan’s production ‘Nala Damayanthi’ as a Brahmin girl, much to the likings of Tamil people. Subsequently, in her movie ‘Whistle’ her character turns the movie apart. After a few small roles in some movies and a role in an independent English film by Roopa Swaminathan, she again returned to the TV industry.

Her return to the small-screen was ecstatic as she got offers from all TV channels. She meticulously chose Sun TV and Vijay TV, the then leaders of TV industry. She appeared in Radaan’s productions ‘Selvi’ and ‘Arasi’ alongside Radhika and then started participating and then hosting ‘Jodi No.1’. Till date, she is the host of the popular dance show. She also has compered about 20 shows in Vijay TV alone that made her scale great heights. She also is the host of her own show ‘Koffee with DD’ in Vijay TV in which she interviews celebrities.

DD’s got married to her childhood friend Srikanth, who served as Gautham Vasudev Menon’s assistant director. She frequently mentions about her late father, who she misses throughout and dedicates all awards to him and Vijay TV. She also lends her voice for several heroines, mostly in Venkat Prabhu’s movies ‘Saroja’ and ‘Goa’. She did her B.A, M.Phil through correspondence in Loyola College, since she was the most sought TV host and will continue to be the same for years to come.

In 2017, DD made a guest appearance in the film Paa Pandi, directed by “Dhanush.” DD separated from Srikanth in 2017. In 2018, she appeared in a music video, Ulaviravu, by Gautham Menon. In 2019, she played the role of Anjana in the film Sarvam Thaala Mayam with “G V Prakash Kumar,” directed by Rajiv Menon. In 2022, DD performed in Coffee With Kadhal, directed by Sundar C and produced by Khushbu Sundar and AC Shanmugam. In 2023, she was seen in Kaadhal Conditions Apply. She played the role of Madhavi in GVM’s directorial venture, Joshua Imai Pol Kaakha. Her movie Dhruva Natchathiram with Chiyaan Vikram, Ritu Varma, and “Simran,” which was completed in 2023, had not seen the theatres after many rescheduled dates, including one in 2025.
