Rahul Raj is one of the most well known music composers in all of the South Indian film industry. He has given music to many movies in his career ranging from various languages such as Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu movies. He was born on March 17th in the city of Cochin in Kerala. He was born to N. S. Kunjoonjamma and E. Thankappan, an advocate. He completed his higher secondary education from Bhavans Vidya Mandir located in Elamakkara in Cochin.

After that he obtained a degree in IT engineering from Cochin University. He has been trained in the Mridangam instrument and in Carnatic music when he was just six. He moved to London after a short period in Bangalore. During his stay in London, he decided to undergo a course in Electronic Sound Production.

Rahul’s entry into the field of music production kick-started after he helped producing a remix of a famous devotional Ayappa song. The song which was originally composed by Pradeep Menon in the year 1985, was remixed and produced under the album name Sabari Beats and was released in India, UK and Canada. The album which was released in 2002 featured singers such as Pravin Mani, ‘ Kamalakar’, and ‘Saroja’.

He returned to India and became the most in-demand music composer for over a hundred commercials. He has worked in different languages and has also composed music for major television channels such as Amrita TV and Asianet TV. He made his feature film debut in Anwar Rasheed’s ‘Chotta Mumbai’ with singer Shankar Mahadevan.

Since then he has worked in a number of films like, ‘ Time’, ‘Annan Thambi’, ‘ Maya Bazaar’, ‘Crazy Gopalan’, ‘ Bachelor Party’, ‘Kili Poyi’, ‘ Kohinoor’, ‘ Ritu’ etc, in Malayalam. He has won several awards including the Kerala State Film Award, the Vayalar Movie Award, etc. He got married to wife, ‘Miriam’ who is a citizen of Germany and has a daughter named Akshaine.

Ouseppachan

Ouseppachan is well-known music composer in the Indian film industry, who is mainly seen to be doing background scores as well as the music for Malayalam films as well as for few of the Hindi films. Mechery Louis Oseppachan was born on 13th September 1955, in Thrissur. Ouseppachan had been interested in music and had a flair for it from his early days itself. The inborn talent in him came out as melodious songs played on his violin. This great musician started his journey with this simple string instrument. He had joined certain troops and bands after his formal education was over. He was seen to play the violin in the troop “Voice of Thrissur”, which is popular music troop of the time. Ouseppachan’s violinist skills were greater than ever. From doing music for troops, he moved on to join the orchestra group that does the background scores for various Malayalam films. By this point in time, Ouseppachan was an impeccable violinist who was in great demands by all. Now he was seen to take a giant leap and take up the role of a music composer for one of the films. His debut film was “Kathodu Kathoram”, a film directed by Bharathan in the year 1985. The music that he did for the film was well appreciated by all. He has then gone one to do the background scores as well as music for many major films. He has also done the background scores and music for certain non-commercial Hindi films, such as “Freaky Chakra”, directed by V. K. Prakash. And for the melodious gift that he possesses, he has been awarded; he has been awarded many awards. He has received three State awards for the Best Music Director category as well for Best Background score. He has also received a National Award for the Best Music Director (he was given this award for the film “Ore Kadal”).
