Josy Joseph is an Award winning Investigative Journalist and Author who established Confluence media. He was born on 6 May 1974 in Cherthala, Alappuzha, Kerela. He completed his schooling at Sainik School Kazhakootam. He went to NSS College, Cherthala and pursued his Graduation in Maths, Physics and Statistics. He also signed up for post-graduation for Diploma in Journalism. He went abroad for his Master’s at The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University- in International Relations (2007). He had also been to the Colombo-based Regional Centre for Strategic Studies and was a member of the Institute of Defence and strategic studies, Singapore. He is in the role of a complement faculty at O.P Jindal University and is a visiting Professor of Media Studies at Ashoka University. He established his Digital Media start-up, Confluence media.
He served as the National Security Editor of The Hindu newspaper till 2018 and has edited elite projects of- The Times of India, DNA Newspaper, Rediff.com, Delhi Mid-Day, The Asian Age, and The Blitz. Joseph became a part of International and National media. His articles served concrete truths and revelations of the most well popular entities of the country, which garnered limelight due to their nature. His well-known investigations are- the Naval War Room leak case, the Commonwealth games scandal, the Adarsh apartment scam, the money laundering case against the BJP President, Operation Ginger, and an Interview with Hizbul Muhajideen- The Chief Commander of Kashmir’s major militant group. He wrote the book- A Feast of Vultures, which throws light on the hidden business of Democracy in India (2016). The book caught attention worldwide and has provoked many debates.
He also wrote The Silent Group, which elucidates the History of India’s deep state. He has been an Honorary Recipient of several influential awards as a Journalist and Non-fiction Writer. He has been honoured on multiple platforms- His book got selected as the best Non-fiction book at The Crossword Book Awards (2018), elected as India’s best Political reporter of 2010 by The Prem Bhatia Trust and was awarded Journalist of the Year by Ramnath Goenka Foundation run by Indian Express Group (2013), received Madhyamasree Puraskaram by India Press Club of North America (2019), became the only Indian to be selected for the International Leaders Programme by the British Government (2014), to name a few.
