Jerry Amaldev’s real name is Jerome Thomas Veleeparambil. He is a music director in the Indian film industry who works majorly in the Malayalam films. He was born on 15 April 1939 and belongs to Cochin which is in Kerala, India. His father was V. C. Joseph and mother were Mary Joseph. He completed his schooling from St. Albert’s High School and the bachelor degree in Philosophy from Papal Athenaeum in Pune.
He got married to a woman named Jolly Jerry Amaldev who unfortunately died due to cancer in the year 2008. They had three daughters named Meera, Sangeeta, and Dahlia. He worked as an assistant with Naushad who is a famous music director. He took training in the field of North Indian Vocal Music from Vishnu Digambar Sangeet Vidyalaya in Pune under the music teacher named Madhusudan Patwardhan.
He made his debut into the Malayalam film industry in 1980 through the film titled “ManjilVirinjaPookkal” which was directed by Fazil. For his work as a music director in this picture, he got awarded with the Kerala State Award. After his successful debut, he started getting many offers, and he later worked in more than 75 movies. He composed more than 300 songs in the South films. He also worked in some Bollywood films.
After a few years of working in the Malayalam film industry, he suddenly disappeared. His last Malayalam film in which he composed the music was “No. 1 Snehatheeram Bangalore North.” Later it was known that he quit the Malayalam film industry and had started working in the American International School, Chennai where he taught music to the students. He also taught this subject along with music composition for films and TV serials at Choice School in Cochin.
After that, he started working as a professor of the subject “History of Music & Conducting” at Asian Christian College of Music in Kottayam. He again entered into the film industry with his comeback film “Action Hero Birju,” directed by Abrid Shine Abrid Shine is a well known Indian Fashion Photogr >> Read More... which released in 2016. He was honored with the award for the Best Music Director twice. Once for the film “ManjilVirinjaPookkal” in 1980 and secondly for “Aparahnam” in 1990.
He also won the Kerala State Film Award in the category of Best Background Music in 1995 for the film “Kazhakam.” His songs are always loved by the audience of all age groups, and they are simple and evergreen.
