M S Rajashekar was an Indian Kannada Film Director and Assistant Director. He has mainly worked in the Kannada film industry. M. S. Rajashekar was born in Bangalore, Karnataka. His father’s name was Subbanna, who was a makeup artist. He started his career in the film industry as an assistant director in the early 1980s. In 1985, he marked his directorial debut career in the Kannada film, Dhruva Thare, starring Rajkumar, Geetha, and Deepa. This movie was a big hit at the box office and earned the Karnataka State Award for Second Best Film. In 1986, he directed his second film, Anuraga Aralithu, based on the Kannada novel ‘Anuragada Anthahpura’ authored by H. G. Radhadevi. This movie was then remade in Bengali, Odia, Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. He directed successful films like Nanjundi Kalyana and Ratha Sapthami.
He has also worked with the many matinee idols in several movies. Rajashekar again directed him in many films during the 1980s, including Ade Raaga Ade Haadu and Aasegobba Meesegobba, which later super hit at the theatre. He mainly worked in movies that were either remade or adapted from books (novels). The films Hrudaya Haadithu (1991) and Mannina Doni (1992) adapted from the novels. Both the movie starred Ambareesh.
He was also known for his directing in the movie Modada Mareyalli (1991), Vijaya Simha (2003), Dakota Express (2002), Hrudaya Hrudaya (1999), and so many. He died on October 29, 2018, in Bangalore. He suffered from widespread lung infection and multi-organ failure.
