CM Rues About Lack Of Socially Relevant Kannada Films

Despite Sandalwood bouncing back with Kantara, the CM isn’t too enthusiastic about the resurgence of Kannada cinema.

In a recent conference, Siddaramaiah talked about his concern over the lack of socially relevant Kannada films. He stressed upon the fact that like every other entity, Kannada cinema is responsible towards the society.

Siddaramaiah has played a small but crucial role in the revival of Kannada cinema in the past few years. After a forgettable 2024, the current CM introduced a slew of reforms, that aimed at pulling the audiences towards the theaters. Although the price cap model was struck down by the Karnataka High Court, the other reforms continue to exist, including a state-powered OTT app that will be launched soon for Kannada movies.
