Ramachari, who comes from a Brahmin family, is at odds with Charulatha (aka Charu) of the prestigious Manayata Builders. With her ego hurt, she resolves to avenge the insult by destroying Ramachari's peace of mind, and for this, she decides to use love as a tool. Ramachaari is a middle-class man who unintentionally angers the arrogant rich girl Charulatha. After they end up as colleagues, her father forces Charulatha to stay with Ramachaari's family temporarily, which she resents. Seeking revenge, Charulatha sabotages Ramachaari's sister's marriage plans. When Ramachaari confronts Charulatha, she refuses to take responsibility. Meanwhile, Ramachaari struggles to fund his sister-in-law Aparna’s cancer treatment. Charulatha blocks his effort to secure a lucrative architectural contract for the funds. Later, a dangerous incident in the forest unexpectedly brings Charulatha and Ramachaari closer. Just as Charulatha resolves to confess her growing affection for Ramachaari, tragedy strikes. Aparna passes away, leaving Ramachaari and his family heartbroken and penniless. In grief-fueled rage, Ramachaari publicly blames Charulatha for causing Aparna’s death by stealing his project. Guilt-ridden, Charulatha attempts suicide but survives. As time passes, Charulatha assumes a false identity to secretly help Ramachaari’s family, hoping to regain his trust. But when Ramachaari accidentally blinds her at his workplace, he again takes responsibility for Charulatha out of remorse.

After learning the “blind” Charulatha is his former nemesis, Ramachaari rejects her love. However, persistent devotion from Charulatha starts to thaw relations between the families over time. But Ramachaari’s scheming sister-in-law Vaishaka resorts to ever more cunning ploys, determined to expose the secret marriage. After Charulatha's multiple attempts to win Ramachaari's affection fail, she disguises herself as "Shailu" to get close to him. Ramachaari starts developing feelings for Shailu, unaware of her real identity. Meanwhile, his family asks Shailu to marry Ramachaari, complicating matters further. Later, an accident at Ramachaari's office blinds Charulatha. Out of guilt, he cares for her, even bringing a specialist from America. However, though Charulatha regains her eyesight, she hides the fact of his affection. Learning the blind girl's real identity shocks Ramachaari's traditional family. His father finally understands Charulatha's genuine devotion to his son. Even so, her rich father arranges Charulatha's engagement to another man against her wishes. Desperate to stop this wedding, Charulatha turns to Ramachaari for help.

After a temple visit further endears her to him, he has a change of heart. With their families' opposition unrelenting, they take secret vows solemnizing their marriage instead. Upon finding proof of this illicit relationship, Ramachaari's cunning sister-in-law Vaishaka intervenes the day Charulatha's wedding is fixed. After being presented with evidence showing Charulatha already married Ramachaari, their families explode in anger and disgust. But true love triumphs as Charulatha finds acceptance in Ramachaari’s household finally. Facing continuous resistance from her persistent arch-rival Vaishaka however, Charulatha resorts to ever more ingenious schemes to secure her hard-won place by her husband’s side. Over time, Ramachaari is impressed by Charulatha's virtues and positive changes in behavior. His mother and sister-in-law also come around to appreciate Charulatha, while his father regrets mistreating her earlier.

When Charulatha and Ramachaari jointly organize a religious ceremony for elder Narayana Shastri using their savings, vindictive Vaishaka sabotages events by stealing their funds. Though Charulatha arranges an alternate loan, her mother Manyatha creates drama by falsely accusing her of misusing her father's name. A distressed Narayana Shastri suffers a heart attack from the tensions. After realizing Charulatha's innocence, the family reconciles with her. But the villainous Vaishaka then tries murdering an ailing Narayana Shastri for his wealth. Caught in the act by Narayana Shastri, Vaishaka reveals her misdeeds targeting Charulatha to retain control over the family. Before the shock causes Narayana Shastri to lose consciousness, he realizes kind Charulatha suffered unfairly while schemer Vaishaka was the real problem all along. The doctor suggests Narayana Shastri survived the attack but cannot speak initially.
