He is popular for his powerful and natural dialogue delivery, and style of acting. His work is most notable in his niche position in Kannada movie and serial industry. He was also seen in Telugu movies. Gowda completed his schooling from Tovinakere and Bengaluru. He was born in ChikkanayakanaHalli to an agricultural background family. After completing his education in SSLC/PUC in Tovinakere, he moved to Bengaluru so that he can pursue his bachelor’s degree in arts.

He had his passion in theatre since his early school days. He was a keen observer and debate person on theatre performances. He made his theatre debut with the role of Hamlet for the act Hamlet at V. V. Puram College, Bengaluru. He had an interest in Kannada literature since his childhood days. As a result, he soon became a profound speaker as well. Apart from acting, he is active in politics and has neutral political views towards several parties of politics. He made his acting debut in 1999 in the Kannada serial Chittarada Baduku.

He was also seen in another serial Birbal where he played the lead role of Birbal. Gowda attained worldwide fame when he played the character of Binga, also gave him recognition in the local Kannada audience. His debut in the film industry was with the 2003 Kannada movie Namma Preetiya Ramu, playing the role of lead villain. He has been seen in more than forty movies in Kannada along with forty more serials. He also works as an active guest speaker in various Kannada events.
