Kiran Karmarkar is a theatre, television and also a film actor from India. He initiated his career in the Marathi Theatre and played cameo roles on television shows and commercial ads. He got his first major role in the television show,
Ghar Ek Mandir
under the direction of
Ekta Kapoor
on Sony India. He got his fame and become an overnight sensation for playing the role of Om Vishwanath Agarwal opposite with
Sakshi Tanwar
in Balaji Telefilms’ Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii that was broadcasted on STAR Plus channel. Later, his character as Om was killed in the serial. Afterwards, there has been some changes in the script and he was once again received an offer to do the same role.
Kiran was born on January 1, 1958 and he was married to actress, Rinku Dhawan Karmarkar, his co-star in Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii. Later, he appeared on television shows and played various roles. In 2006, he was starred in television show Saarathi as a business tycoon. Then he was bagged to do the negative role of Tej Baldev Singh Bundela in Uttaran that was aired on Colors TV. In 2013, Kiran was nominated in the Indian Telly Jury Award for Best Actor in a Negative Role for his performance in Uttaran. He also essayed small roles in some of Bollywood films.
Besides the big and small screens, Kiran also worked in some Marathi films and stage plays. He did a comedic role in the play, Merra Naam Joker opposite with
Bhavana Balsavar
under the direction of
Shubha Khote
. Kiran also played the main character in the Hindi play, Bas Itna Sa Khwab Hai…! along with
Shefali Shah
under the direction of Chanrakant Kulkarni. In 2009, he played the role as the Chief Minister in the Marathi film, Kshanokshani where he got the Maharashtra State Film Award.

Kiran claims that he is just an ordinary person with a variety of emotions. He likes to watch films during his free time and he likes Ijaazat so much. He also prefers to perform on theatres, so when he is not doing any television shows, he goes out of the country together with his theatre group to perform.
