Naveen Andrews

Naveen Andrews is a British-American actor who works in English television series. He was born on 17th January 1969 in Lambeth in London in the UK. He is popular for his characters in Lost, The English Patient and Rollerball. Naveen is the son of psychologist Nirmala and Andrew Stanley. He comes from a Malayali Nasrani family with origins in Kerala.

He attended school at the Emmanuel School, where he fell in love with his maths teacher Geraldine Feakins and had a son named Jaisal. He later had a son named Joshua with actress Elena Eustache. He attended drama school at London’s Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Naveen made his film debut as Bike in Hanif Kureshi’s comedy flick London Kills Me which hit the silver screens on 13th December 1991. He then played the lead role of Zaf in David Attwood’s 1992 comedy flick Wild West. Naveen made his television debut with Robert Knight’s television movie Double Vision which aired on 2nd December 1992.

He played the lead character Karim Amir in the 1993 television mini-series The Buddha Of Suburbia on BBC. Naveen entered the limelight for his role as Kip Singh in the 1996 movie The English Patient and as Sanjay for the 2002 feature film Rollerball. He was nominated in 1997 for the Chlotrudis Award under the Best Supporting Actor category for The English Patient.

Naveen received critical acclaim for his lead role as Sayid in the television series Lost which aired from 2004 till 2010 on ABC. Naveen won the Ensemble Of The Year Gold Derby TV Award in 2008 and the Screen Actors Guild Award for an Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series in 2010. He also got the nominations for the OFTA Television Award in 2005, the Primetime Emmy award in 2005, the Golden Nymph in 2007, 2008 and 2010 and several others.

Naveen gave the voice over for the character Sabal in the video game Far Cry 4 in 2014, for which he was nominated for the BTVA Video Game Voice Acting Award under the Best Vocal Ensemble in a Video Game in 2015. Naveen acted in television series like Once Upon A Time, The Ten Commandments and Sense8. Naveen’s latest project is the CBS channel series Instinct. He appeared on reality shows like Friday With Jonathan Ross, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Up Close With Carrie Keagan and many others. Naveen was voted in People magazine’s 2006 edition of the Most Beautiful People On Earth.
