David Giler is an American filmmaker. He is divorced with Nancy Kwan and ex-stepfather of Bernie Pock. He started his career as a writer, by providing scripts for TV programs. He contributed to the television shows such as “Kraft Suspense Theatre” and “The man from U.N.C.L.E“. David worked on script writing for a decade and then moved to the screenplay in 1970. The first script of a film he wrote for was “The Parallax view” and then “Fun with Dick and Jane”. David Giler is mainly known for the series of “Aliens” from 1979-1992. He is the Producer and the Writer of Alien trilogy. David Giler is the co-founder of “Brandywine Productions” with Walter Hill and Gordan Carroll. This company is mainly associated with the release of ‘Alien’ series of films. In the 1980s, Giler and Hill wrote the screenplays for “The money pit” and “Southern Comfort”. The first release of horror thriller “Alien” series was in 1979. During the 1990s, Giler produced “Tales from the Crypt” and “Tales from the Crypt keeper” for HBO. Then returning to the Alien series, “Alien 3” was released in 1992 and “Alien: Resurrection” in 1997. After the great success of this series, David Giler shifted to another genre with the production of “Undisputed” and “Ritual”. By taking the response of audience into consideration, his next release “Alien vs. Predator” was a success in 2004, followed by “Alien vs. Predator: Requiem” in 2007.
The continued part, i.e., ”Alien: Covenant” of Alien Series is upcoming release of 2017. David Giler has contributed as a Producer in the films like, Alien (1979), Southern Comfort (1981), The Money Pit (Executive Producer,1986), Aliens (Executive Producer, 1986), Let it Ride (1989), Alien 3 (1992), Girls in Prison (TV Movie, 1994), Rebel Highway (TV Series, 1994), Tales from the Crypt Keeper (TV Series, 1994), Tales from the Crypt (Demon Knight, 1995), W.E.I.R.D World (Executive Producer, 1995), Alien vs. Predator (2004). He was nominated for, “Saturn Award” and “Hugo Award” for “Alien 3”, “CableACE” Award 1993-94-95 in a row for “Rebel Highway” and “Tales from the Crypt”, “Daytime Emmy” Award for “Secrets of Crypt keepers haunted house”, “Edgar” Award for “The parallax view”, “Gold Satellite Award” for “Alien : Resurrection”, “WGA Award” for “The parallax view”. He won “Hugo” award in 1987 for “Best dramatic presentation” in “Alien” (1986).
