Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa, born Dua Melissa Lipa, is a well-known English-Albanian singer, songwriter and model whose 'mezzo-soprano' vocal range and 'dark pop' musical style have made her presence unique and felt throughout the music industry. She was born on 22nd August 1995 in London, to Albanian parents from Kosovo who had left Pristina in the 1990s. Being exposed to her father, Dukagjin Lipa's music sessions at home, young Lipa started singing when she was five. Lipa grew up in West Hampstead, London. At the age of nine, She attended Sylvia Young Theatre School part-time before moving to Kosovo with her family in 2008, where she attended the private school Mileniumi i Tretë in Pristina.

When she turned Fifteen, She moved back to London and attended Parliament Hill School, passing her A-levels. Around this time, She started writing and uploading her songs to Soundcloud and Youtube. In 2013, Lipa signed a contract with Tap Management, directed by Ben Mawson and Ed Millett, while working as a waitress at a cocktail bar. In 2014, Lipa co-wrote the song 'Hotter than Hell', eventually leading her to sign a record deal with Warner Bros. Records in 2015. In August 2015, Lipa released her first single, "New Love" produced by Emile Haynie and Andrew Wyatt. Followed by her second single, "Be the One", which was issued to European success in October 2015, making it to the charts of successful songs in Europe.

Her other songs, like "IDGAF" and "New Rules", were also successful. Between January 2016- November 2016, Lipa went on performing throughout Europe on her first tour. In January 2017, She won the EBBA Public Choice Award. Her first album, "Dua Lipa" was released in June 2017, and its 6th single, "New Rules", became Lipa's first number-one in the UK. In 2019, Lipa won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist and the Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Recording for "Electricity".

In 2020, Lipa's album "Future Nostalgia" and its lead single "Don't start now" became the year's most commercially successful songs with its follow-up singles, "Physical", "Break My Heart", and "Levitating", which topped the Hot 100's year-end chart in 2021, later receiving the Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album. In 2022, Lipa's albums were the most streamed female albums on Spotify, with over 10B+ streams each.
