Heather’s mother, Camille, was a housewife and father; Ray Matarazzo worked as a processing manager for a bakery chain. She attended Oyster Bay High School and BOCES Cultural Arts Center High School.

Heather is a lesbian and has accepted it openly. In July 2008, her team announced that she is engaged to Caroline Murphy, a musician. Later as the reports have been found, the couple had split mutually. Matarazzo started her career at the age of six for an AIDS ad campaign where she learned how to handle microphone and was rewarded with the card of a talent manager. She made her debut to Hollywood taking acting as a profession in 1995 with the film Welcome to The Dollhouse.
