Corey Glover is an American musician and actor. He was born on November 6, 1964, in Brooklyn, New York City. He began his career with the intention of being an actor. He had no desire of becoming a musician and thus did not seek the profession himself. It was the famous guitarist Vernon Reid who pushed him into the music industry by putting him in the band Living Colour. Thus, Glover’s music career began in 1985 while he was still an aspiring actor. Glover’s band, Living Colour was immediately successful. The band’s first album, Vivid, was released in 1988. The album was loved by the audiences and thus led it to achieve many accolades. In the April of 1989, the record went platinum. This honour repeated itself five years later again when the record went platinum in the year 1994. The album’s extremely famous single, “Cult of Personality”, was nominated for a Grammy award in 1989 and also won the award for Best Hard Rock Performance. Due to their high success and popularity with their debut, Living Colours, in 1989, was also named the Best New Artist at the MTV Video Music Awards. The band went on to release two more albums. The first album was titled Time’s Up and the second was called Saint. The albums did well with the audience. But in 1995, the band split up. Glover, in pursuit of continuing his career in music, started a solo career after the band’s split. He called himself Reverend Daddy Love and further formed the band Vice with guitarist Mike Ciro. Glover’s individual endeavours were brought to a halt when Living Colour reunited on December 21, 2000.
With their reunion, the band released its fourth studio album Collideøscope in October 2003. In 2011, through the use of Pledgemusic, Glover asked his fans to participate in a follow-up to his earlier released solo album, Hymns and help him fund the recording. Finally, in the month of November of 2012, Glover’s solo album, The Pledge, was released through Pledgemusic – a Direct-To-Fan Project. Even though Glover’s acting career was short-lived and not very conspicuous, he is known for his role of Pvt. Francis in the classic Vietnam war film, Platoon. He had also starred in Signs of Life, which was a rather short series on television. He has also been seen hosting various shows on VH1. Famously, in August 2006, Glover began playing the role of Judas in a national tour of Jesus Christ Superstar. The former actor who had been portraying Judas since 1971, Carl Anderson could not play his role as he died of leukemia. Glover was heard repeatedly saying that he was inspired to become an entertainer when he was a child after seeing the movie version of the show. Glover is still an active musician and theatre actor.
