Jon Bon Jovi, whose original name is John Francis Bongiovi Jr., is an actor, a record producer, a singer-songwriter, and a philanthropist. He was born on March 2, 1962. His native town is Perth Amboy, New Jersey, United States of America. His parent's names are John Francis Bongiovi Sr. and Carol Sharkey. His father is Italian while his mother is of Russian and German descent. He has two siblings named Matthew and Anthony. He was a student of St. Joseph High School, Metuchen, New Jersey, and Sayreville War Memorial High School, Parlin, New Jersey. He has spent most of his childhood in the company of his grandparents. He was interested in music since his school days and hence neglected studies. At the age of sixteen, he began playing in clubs where he met David Bryan, a keyboardist, and collaborated with him and several others. With the help of his cousin, he tape-recorded his foremost song at the age of seventeen for the movie Christmas in the Stars: The Star Wars Christmas Album. He then went on to sing several songs for bands as well as for films and worked with many artists like Roy Bittan, Tim Pierce, Hugh McDonald, and Frankie LaRocka. However, he had to struggle for some time before finally forming a group named Bon Jovi with David Bryan, Tico Torres, Alec John Such, and Dave Sabo. Eventually, Sago parted ways with Bon Jovi, and Richie Sambora replaced him.
The band achieved cult status and people even remember it today. Many of their compositions have swept several prizes at many prestigious awards functions. He has also acted in movies and TV shows like Pay It Forward, Moonlight and Valentino, National Lampoon's Pucked, The Leading Man, New Year's Eve, Destination Anywhere, Row Your Boat, No Looking Back, Sex and the City, The West Wing, Young Guns II, Vampires: Los Muertos, and much more.
