Back to her interest in writing script, when Ashleigh Powell was in junior year of college pursuing her English Creative Writing (major), she learned the introductory part of screenwriting course. And then Ashleigh always loved watching movies and thus she could grasp easily all the points of cinematic qualities. Later on, she wrote two novels when she was in initial days of college.

After writing the draft of the novel, she understood that screenplay writing is easier than writing novels. Now after the success of ‘Somacell’, she has just finished over a dozen scripts, but she has just shown two or three scripts to the project maker. Meanwhile, she was even an executive assistant at a production company for a few years. Now she wants to be a true storyteller. While she is on her job as a screenwriter, she gives ample thought for dialogues too. She believes that Hollywood is still conservative in its mindset in embracing new ideas. Studios are always on the hunt for 'something same but little different' concept which helps Hollywood in getting the only familiar genre of scripts. Ashleigh feels Hollywood should think in the spirit of 'outside the box’ sense.
