Gloria Rose ‘Barbara’ Turner was born on 14th July 1936 in the Brooklyn borough of New York City, USA. She was the daughter of Pearl Turner and Alexander Turner. Barbara did her Major in Acting from the University of Texas at Austin. After her major, she studied drama at a dramatics workshop by Erwin Picator (a director and theatre producer).

She got married to Vic, who was also an actor by profession. The couple tied the knot in 1957 and had two daughters, Jennifer Jason (actress) and Carrie Ann. In 1964, they made a mutual decision to separate.
Barbara then got hitched to the well-known film director, Reza Badiyi Reza Sayed Badiyi otherwise called Reza Badiei, wa >> Read More... in 1968. The couple gave birth to a daughter, Mina Badie, who is an actress. Reza and Gloria filed for divorce in 1985 after living together for 16 years.
She began her career in the American cinema by acting in various TV productions and movies. Her first movie was a romantic action film, Two- Gun Lady in 1955. In this film, she played the role of Jenny Ivers. Gloria started writing scripts for movies and TV shows from 1966 onwards. She wrote the screenplay of the movie, ‘Deathwatch’. This movie is an adaptation of a play written in 1947 by Jean Genet. It was a story about three prisoners and the mental and social consequences they face because of the crimes they committed.
Later, the actress became more involved in screenwriting than in acting. Her second film, ‘Petulia’ (1968) was again an adaptation of the novel, ‘Me and the Arch Kook Petulia’. Gloria’s last work as a script-writer was Hemingway and Gellhorn, a TV movie by HBO in 2012.
She is the recipient of various awards, like the WGA Award 1968 under the category Best Written American Drama for the movie Petulia, a Humanitas Prize for the script of ‘Widow’ in 1976, 2013 WGA Award under the category Long Form Original for the movie Hemingway and Gellhorn (last), and few other such awards. She was also nominated for an Emmy Award. Barbara Turner died on 5th April 2016 at the age of 79 in LA, USA. Barbara in one interview revealed that she became a screen-writer so that she could fund her acting ventures.
