Jack Rollins

Jack Rollins born on March 23rd, 1915, was a producer and also a lyrics writer in the American film industry. He was born in Brooklyn. After his graduation, he worked for two years in an orphanage, and then he was directed to the United States to join the Army. He worked as the communication decoder during the war in India. Melvyn Douglas, an actor, was one of his commanding officers. They became very close friends over the period. After the war had ended, Douglas helped him in building the contacts he needed to start his career as a director. Jack worked as the producer of Broadway for almost about a decade. But this turned out to be unfruitful.

In 1951, he established Midtown Manhattan, which was a talent agency. He gradually gave up directing Midtown Manhattan. He worked with Harry Belafonte and Charles H. Joffe. They together designed the career of many artists and comedians too. Jack died in June 2015, just three months after his 100th birthday in March.
