Tommy Lee

Thomas Lee Bass aka Tommy Lee is an American musician who is known as the founder of a heavy metal band 'Mötley Crue’ in Los Angeles in 1981. Thomas Lee along with Nikki Sixx (Guitarist), Tommy Lee (Drummer), Vince Neil (Lead Singer) and Mick Mars (Lead Guitarist) formed 'Motley Crue'. This pop band has sold more than 100 million records worldwide.

Thomas Lee was born on 3 October 1962 in Athens, Greece to David Lee Thomas Bass, a military officer and Vassiliki Papadimitriou, a popular beauty contestant. He also has a younger sister Anthena Lee, who married a drummer named James Kottak, who was associated with the rock band Scorpion.

Thomas met Nikki Sixx in the late 1970s. Nikki was very impressed by Lee. Lee also brought in another high school friend Vince Neil and the team formed a group, 'The Motley Crue'. It was in the year 1981, the Motley Crue came up with its first album ‘Too Fast for Love’.

Later on, the team got recognized as one of the biggest hard rock/metal bands of the 1980s with successive albums release - 'Shout at the Devil' (19383), ’Theatre of Pain’ (1984), 'Girls, Girls, Girls' (1987) and 'Dr. Feel Good' (1989). Later he split with his band. In the year 2002, he released his first solo album ‘Never a Dull Moment’ and his second album was ‘Tommyland: The Ride' in 2005.

In 2006, he came up with a new band named ‘Rock Star Supernova’ with Jason Newsted and Gilby Clarke. Lee also recorded tracks for the rock band ‘Jack's Mannequin’ that released the album ‘Everything in Transit’. Tommy Lee and his old mate Nikki Sixx got separated from their own band Motley Crue as the manager of the troupe was sued. Tommy later took part in various reality TV shows.

After his split from the band twice, Tommy Lee returned back to his own troupe after the advice of Vince Neil and recorded a new album, ‘Saints of Los Angeles’. His recent endeavors include touring with music DJs such as DJ Auro since 2000.

The duo team had a major presence at Miami's WMC in 2008.  In 2009, Lee appeared in a number of cities with Sharam Tayebi, and his another duo partner Deep Dish, who has also won Grammy Award. In 2011, Lee and Auro went on Meowington Hax tour with a Canadian record producer Joel Thomas Zimmerman.

In 2014, he joined his parent troupe Motley Crue in a farewell tour. In the same year, Lee also chose to be a drummer for Monuments to an Elegy Album which was brought out by American alternative rock band from Chicago, Smashing Pumpkins.

Lee has tied up knot three times but none of his marriages worked. He often got linked with some actresses and always wanted to break the former marriage. His first marriage was with Elaine Starchuk. On May 10, 1986, he married actress Heather Locklear but got divorced in 1993.

The couple had two sons.  In 1998, he divorced Pamela. In 2009, Lee announced that he was engaged to singer Sofia Toufaa but it didn’t work.
