Born on December 30, 1986, in Hereford, England, Elena Jane Goulding is an English vocalist, musician, and record maker. She is the daughter of Arthur Goulding and Tracy. Ellie began playing musical instruments at the age of 9. She started with the clarinet and later at the age of 14, started learning the guitar. Ellie went to Lady Hawkins' High School in Kingston. She began songwriting at the age of 15 and won the competition in singing at Hereford Sixth Form College. Ellie was presented to electronic music at the University of Kent and got spotted at a college talent contest by Jamie Lillywhite from the music and branding company, Turn First Artists. Jamie later turned into her manager.
She shifted to West London after taking a break from her studies to seek a profession as an option singer/lyricist and became friends with makers like Starsmith and Frankmusik, who gave her tunes an electro-pop twist.
