Pleasant music always calms our mind, and an instrument that produces the calmest music is the 'flute.’ When it comes to flute, how can we forget to mention one of the most renowned flutists, Dianne Aitken? The multi- talented Dianne has not gained expertise just in flute but also in 'piccolo' and 'winds.’ She has dedicated her crucial 35 years to the adventures of music. Born and brought up in Toronto, Dianne has gained her Bachelor’s degree in Music from the University of Toronto. She always had a will to share her work with the world, and to do the same, she chose to publish her learning, and some of them include - 2010 Overture Flute Series, RCME materials, ACNMP Syllabi, and her assistance in Hiroshi Koizomi's Technique for contemporary flute music.
Not just publication, but Dianne has composed for flute, and her compositions include Learning to Skate, Loco-motif, cadenzas for Mozart, and Stamitz works and chamber arrangements of Marcello Sonatas. All her work revolves around the flute, and it highly reflects how passionate she is towards music (especially the flute). Her work has been recognized and appreciated worldwide. That's why she was a part of many conferences and festivals. She co-sponsors the Aitken award and organizes special club for flute.
Dianne never wanted her learnings to be confined to her only, so she started providing flute lessons with all her heart, and the response was overwhelming; her students consistently won many awards and scholarships, be it an RC Examinations Gold Medal Walter Hamburger Award, RC Scholarships, and what not.
