Bobby Hebb

Robert Von Hebb or Bobby Hebb was an American musician, singer, songwriter, performer and a recording artist born on 26 July 1938 in Nashville, Tennessee, U.S. Hebb father William and mother Olivia both were blind musicians. Hebb was interested in the music since his childhood and at the age of three, he performed as a song and dance team with his older brother Harold. Hebb was the first black person to perform at the Grande Ole Opry at the just age of 12. Hebb’s favorite instruments were piano and guitar. He also played spoons during the start of his career. The day 23 November 1963 left him devastated when his older brother Harold was killed in Nashville nightclub during a knife fight, a day after the assassination of famous U.S. President John F. Kennedy.

Hebb was left shattered by the incidents and started writing songs. Many people believe that Hebb’s famous song Sunny was written after the incident took place which earned him big fame in the music industry. In 1966 Hebb’s single Sunny 2nd position on the Billboard Hot 100 and 3rd position on the R&B charts. His song is also rated 25 among the best songs of the century. In June 2011, Hebb performed on the stage at the opening of Martini and Rosso, the photo exhibition in Boston. Hebb died in his hometown Nashville, Tennessee, U.S. on 3 August 2010 from lung cancer. Hebb was treated from his disease in his hometown at TriStar Centennial Medical Centre.
