Sophie Marceau

Born in the year 1966, Sophie Marceau is a French director, actress, author, and screenwriter. She was the second child of Nee Morisset (Simone) who was a shop assistant and Benoit Maupin, who was a truck driver. She came from a middle- class family and had seen struggle all through growing up. When she was nine, her parents got divorced. She lived with her mother. Her mother gave her good values and supported her to accomplish her dreams. In the year 1980, Sophie and her mother met up with a modeling agency.

Marceau did not have good pictures of her and thought nothing would come out of it. On the same hand, casting director Francoise Menidrey had been searching for a new teenager for the movie La Boum. He signed Sophie for a long-term contract. The movie by Gaumont Film Company was a superhit. The movie not only became popular in France but also in various European countries.

The very next year she made her singing debut as well. She starred in her boyfriend's movie, ‘My nights are more beautiful than your days’. Then she ventured into the film ‘Eurydice’ and bagged the Moliere Best Female Newcomer award. Till now, she had been acting in dramatic films. Now she tried her hand in comedy and acted in ‘Fanfan’ in the year 1993 and ‘Revenge of the Musketeers’ in the year 1994. Both were a blockbuster in France and various other countries as well. After playing the role of Princess Isabelle in ‘Braveheart’, she gained international recognition and stole everyone's heart. Back to back, she continued acting in successful movies. ‘Firelight’ by William Nicholson, ‘Marquise’ by Vera Belmont, ‘Anna Karenina’ by Bernard Rose, are some Sophie's epic pictures.

For sixteen long years, Sophie Marceau had been in a relationship with Andrzej Żuławski. They also had a son. But in the year 2001, she separated from Andrzej and started living with Jim Lemley. Both of them have a beautiful daughter named Juliette, born in the year 2002. She separated from Jim as well and for seven years had been in a relationship with Christopher Lambert. The couple shared a good on-screen chemistry but unfortunately their relation could not go long. Sophie was selected as one of the jury members of The Cannes Film Festival competition section of the year 2015. As an author, she wrote the semi-autobiographical novel named ‘Menteuse’, which was loved by all. Her directorial debut was ‘Speak to Me of Love’ which gained fame and money. She has been a successful author, actress, and director.
