William McChord Hurt belongs to Washington D.C, the United States as he was born there. He did his schooling at Juilliard School and later did his graduation in theology from Tufts University. Today he is a well-known stage and film actor. He has given phenomenal performance both on television and in Hollywood. He is known for his fine acting and deep complex roles. He has been married twice. He has four children. He married Mary Beth and then studied acting from New York City. For him, Theatre is an innate art.

After his first marriage had ended, he made his stage debut with Henry V for Oregon Shakespeare Festival (1977). Later he joined New York’s Circle Repertory Company. He enacted in television shows such as Kojak and Varna. In 1980 he made his feature film debut with the movie ‘Altered States’. He played the role of Professor Edward Jessup. He was nominated for Golden Globe Award for New Star of the year. After his role of Daryll Deever in ‘Body Heat’ (1981), he became a recognized actor in the industry.

In 1983 he appeared in The Big Chill as Nick Carlton and in Gorky Park as Arkady Renko. The Kiss of woman Spiderman is one of the most outstanding contributions of Hurt marked in the industry. He received a dozen of awards and nomination for his role of Luis Alberto Molina. Some of his movies in the following years were ’A time of destiny’, Alice, I love you to Death, The Doctor, The Plague, Mr. Wonderful, Second Best, Smoke, Michael, Loved, Lost in Space and Sunshine. The years following 2000 were the flourishing years where he revived his career and enacted in television shows simultaneously.

Some of his notable TV shows are ‘Damages’ (2009) where he played Daniel Purcell and received two award nominations. His has received great applause for his show Endgame where he played Willie. In 2011 he did two episodes for Moby Dick too. Too big to fall is one his best shows.

His latest release is Captain America: Civil War, which is a worldwide hit. Hurt has been honored with Academy Award thrice for Kiss of the Spider Woman, Children of a Lesser God and Broadcast News. He has received Golden Horse Award for a best foreign actor of The Accidental Tourist. He has received BAFTA Award, Cannes film festival, London film critic Award and Oscar Award for Kiss of the woman Spiderman. He is also a recipient of Spencer Tracy Award. Hurt has been busy acting for his two new shows-Beowulf and Trial. His upcoming film is, ‘The Moon and the Sun’.

William was born as William Mc Chord Hurt on 20 March 1950 in Washington D.C., United States. He graduated high school from Middlesex School and William studied Theology at Tufts University and got his acting training at the Julliard College from 1972-1976.

He was the Vice-President of the Dramatics Club in the school. Hurt made his debut with the film the Altered States and his portrayal of an obsessed scientist was acknowledged by critics and audiences, but he did stage acting before entering the film industry. William was a member of Circle Repertory Company of acting, and for his performance in the play My Life, he won an Obie Award and a Theatre World Award for Ulysses in Traction, Lulu, and Fifth Of July. Though William was known from the release of his debut film and earned his stardom with the movie Body Heat.

Later on, he appeared in films like The Big Chill, Gorky Park, Kiss of The Spider-Woman, Children of a Lesser God, Broadcast News and won the Best Actor Prize at the Cannes Film Festival and an Academy Award for his role in Kiss of Spider Woman. William was nominated in the Best Actor Category and Best Supporting Actor Category for three consecutive years in a row in the Oscars. Hurt has played many versatile roles on the screen like Lost in Space and psychological thriller movie, A History of Violence. He has enacted the role of a government employee in a political film Syriana and has created an aura in the enigmatic film Love You to Death. In 2007, William became the face of the Hulk character of General Thunder Bolt for the Marvel Studio Films the Incredible Hulk.

Hurt appeared in the film named Into the Wild which is based on the true story of Christopher Mc Candless and played the character of Mr. Brooks in the Mr. Brooks film.
