Plot
The film follows Pentagon employee Scott Huffman, played by Sebastian Stan. Scott was on track to a successful career when he is tasked with investigating a requested posthumous Medal of Honor for William H. Pitsenbarger by his family and Tom Tulley, played by William Hurt, who was Pitsenbarger’s partner during his last mission. In 1966, during the Vietnam War, Pitsenbarger had, as a para-rescuer, saved more than sixty fellow soldiers and ultimately chose to stay in the warzone to aid his battalion. As Scott examines Pitsenbarger’s case and takes the testimonies of those who had worked with or were saved by Pitsenbarger, he wonders why such a brave man was not awarded the Medal of Honor. Upon further investigation, Scott discovers some dark secrets and even puts his career on the line to get Pitsenbarger the honor he deserves.
