Teddy Rooney whose full name is Theodore Michael Rooney was born on 12th April 1950 in Los Angeles, California was an actor, musician and the son of model and actress Martha Vickers and film maker and famous actor Mickey Rooney . Teddy Rooney's parents were married for a very short period (1949-1951), and he was the only child they had together. However, Teddy had eight siblings from his father's side and two from his mother's side. Mickey married eight times, and Martha had married three times. Mickey Rooney passed away in 2014 at the age of 93 and Martha had died early due to esophageal cancer at the age of 46 in 1971. Teddy Rooney started his career as a child actor when he appeared with his father and played as the son of his father's legendary character in Andy Hardy Comes Home (1958) and also in an installment of the General Electric Theatre.

He had also acted with his mother in an episode of a CBS anthology series Playhouse 90 (1957). Apart from working with his parents he had also worked independently in TV shows including Wagon Train, the role of Huckleberry Finn in a part of Shirley Temple's Storybook, Lassie and McHale's Navy, The Rifle man; and in movies like - Seven Ways from Sundown with Audie Murphy, It Happened to Jane (1959) with Jack Lemmon and Doris Day, etc. Teddy said that working with his father was a very special point in his acting career. He had said in an interview that even if his father didn't set a good example for him to grow up with, he had always idolized and respected him. Rooney had also served in the Vietnam War.

He left his acting career in the early 1960s to pursue a career in music. He was a part of a band called the Rooney Brothers with his brothers Tim and Mickey Jr., they had a contract with the Columbia records but they never made it through the charts, and eventually they had to disband it. He also performed in another rock and roll band called The Yellow Payges as a singer and bassist from 1966 to 1970. He was married to Carol Rooney and had two daughters Shannon and Dominique. Like many other Hollywood off springs, Teddy Rooney struggled with alcohol and drug addiction and passed away on 2nd July 2016, following a long illness at the age of 66.
