Rory McCann, born in Glasgow, Scotland on 24th April 1969 is a Scottish Actor. During the Actor’s Workshop of 1998 in Glasgow, he was trained by Robert Parsifal Finch, a renowned writer, and artist. Before gaining popularity as an actor, mainly for portraying ‘The Hound’ in Game of Thrones, Rory used to work as bridge gardener, a carpenter, and a landscape gardener.
Rory has a younger sister named Sally-Gay McCann who is three years younger than him. She worked alongside him during Alexander and Game of Thrones as a costume designer. He usually prefers an anti-social lifestyle, often spending most of his time on boats and places without any modern facilities.
While working on his first film project WILLOW in 1998, he was interestingly fired from the set for laughing during the takes. In 2004, he made his debut on the big screen with Oliver Stone’s historical drama Alexander. Â
Political views are something that Rory has always been firm upon throughout his life. After making an appearance in the 2007 Scottish Parliament general election, it was clear that he’s an open supporter of the Scottish Green Party. Apart from this, he is known for playing piano, banjo, guitar, and mandolin, thanks to his involvement in the defunct band ‘Thundersoup’ as a frontman.
