Paul Wesley is the American actor who is best known as for his portrayal of Stefan Salvatore in the hit American television series The Vampire Diaries As is evident from the name, The Vampire Diaries d >> Read More... The Vampire Diaries . He has directed as well as acted in the Vampire Diaries. He is also known for playing the character of Aaron Corbett in ‘Fallen’, an ABC television series. He was born on 23 July 1982 in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He was named Pawel Tomasz Wasilewski, but later on changed it to Paul Wasilewski. He remained Paul Wasilewski till 2004 after which he changed it to Paul Wesley with the permission of his family, of course. The reason was that it was a difficult name to pronounce and that changing it has really helped him in his career as an actor.

His parents are Tomasz Wasilewski and Agnieszka Wasilewski. They are Polish immigrants. He had spent his early childhood in the Marlboro Township, New Jersey. He used to visit his relatives in Poland every year for four months, till the age of 16 and speaks the native language, Polish, as well. Other than his parents, his family consists of three sisters. The eldest is Monika, who is the oldest kid of the family. He also has two younger sisters, Leah and Julia. He was schooled at different schools like the Christian Brothers Academy in Lincroft, New Jersey and then Marlboro High School in Monmouth County, New Jersey and the Lakewood Prep School, and after that, in Howell, New Jersey. He had to change his school several times due to lack of support from the school management regarding his acting career.

He was cast in the Guiding Light during his junior year, and therefore he transferred from Marlboro High School to Lakewood Prep School since it made better accommodation to his acting schedule. After graduation from high school, he went to Rutgers University but left his college after the first semester, since at that period he was offered many roles in movies and television. His career as an actor, which began in the year 1999 with the soap opera Guiding Light while he was still in high school reached new heights when he was signed for the role of Stefan Salvatore for The Vampire Diaries in 2009.

Despite the wide range of characters he has brought to life, he is best known for playing Stefan Salvatore, the Italian-American vampire in the hit television series The Vampire Diaries. It is based on the novel series by L. J. Smith of the same name, and follows the storyline of the vampire Salvatore Brothers, Damon and Stefan and their love interest Elena Gilbert who is a human. Their love triangle provides the major fodder for the plot. During the 10 year interim, he acted in both television shows and Hollywood flicks.

His Hollywood career consisted of playing the side roles of Troy in Roll Bounce (2005), Jackson Fargo in Cloud 9 (2006) and Trevor in Peaceful Warrior (2006).
