Jonathan Bailey is an English actor born on 25th April 1988, who is best known for the ITV drama Broadchurch, and the BBC's Leonardo in which he played the young Leonardo DA, Vinci. He was also part of the Channel 4 comedy Campus. Bailey was born in Wallingford and has three older siblings. He decided that he desired to be an actor at age the young of 5 after attending a stage creation of Oliver! Bailey began performing as an actor on the ITV series named Bramwell. After working parts in various films and television series, Bailey obtained a small role as sports enthusiast Flatpack in the serial Campus. It is a semi-improvised British serial produced by the team following the comedy picture show Smack the Pony and Green Wing, led by Victoria Pile who acts as producer, co-writer, and director.

It is set in the imaginary Kirke University and reflects the lives of the workers, in an appropriate the power-crazed and hard vice Chancellor Jonty de Wolfe which was played by Andy Nyman, lazy womanizing English literature teacher Matt Beer played by Joseph Millson and newly advanced senior mathematics lecturer Imogen Moffat played by Lisa Jackson. In 2011, he played the role of Leonardo DA Vinci in the program Leonardo which was aired on CBBC. He has even worked opposite Sarah Alexander in the Me and Mrs. Jones by BBC comedy. He played the role of Alfie and was directed by Nick Hurran. He gave a mind blowing performance in the 2011 play South Downs by David Hare.

The play was premiered along with a revival The Browning Version of Rattigan at the Minerva Theatre, Chichester. The two plays were directed independently by Jeremy Herrin and Angus Jackson. Jonathan Bailey was nominated for the honor for Outstanding Newcomer at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards in 2012 for his good performance on the stage. Bailey has played the role of Tim Price in the musical play named American Psycho at the London's Almeida Theatre.
