John Ireland

John Benjamin Ireland, a notable actor of Hollywood, was born on January 30, 1914, in Vancouver, British Columbia. He never knew who his father was. His mother remarried and had three children. Like many others, Ireland worked to make a living at his seventh grade. One of the weirdest things that Ireland did was wresting a dead octopus at his job in the water carnival.

It was by accident that Ireland discovered his passion in acting. Then he read the dramas and works of Shakespeare as his “Formal” education. Thus, he was the first Vancouver-born actor to receive an Academy Award nomination. Since he had a well-built physic he has acted as villains in the films, Gunfight at the O.K. Corral (1957) and he had a good supporting act in 55 Days at Perking (1963). Contrast to these he has also acted as an innocent man-on-the-run in the blockbuster movie The Fast and the Furious and had a key role. He has acted in the NBC western series, Riverboat and also in CBS western series, Rawhide episode.

In 1967, he and Michael Landon appeared at Bonanza in the Judgement at Red Creek episode. Having a great passion towards acting, Ireland also acted in Italian productions like Salon Kitty (1976),The House of Seven Corpses (1974) and Satan’s Cheerleaders (1977). He had a great passion towards this field and he regularly returned to the stage throughout his career.
