John Hillerman is a renowned American actor. He was born as John Benedict Hillerman on December 20, 1932, in Denison, Texas in the USA. He studied at St. Xavier’s Academy. He majored Journalism at the University of Texas at Austin, but only studied for three years. During the 50’s, he entered the United States Air Force and had achieved the rank of a Sergeant. During those years that he is serving the military, he simultaneously worked with several theatrical groups. When he got discharged, he studied at the American Theatre Wing in New York City.
John started his theatrical career in 1957 that spanned until the year 1999. John’s first Broadway appearance was in the year 1959. He had worked in several live performances on different venues before he made his first Motion Picture appearance in 1970. His notable films were from The Last Picture, What’s Up, Doc?, Paper Moon, High Plains Drifter, Chinatown, and Blazing Saddles. John also made great performances in films like Lucky Lady, At Long Last Love, and Up the Creek. He co-starred in the American TV series, Ellery Queen, aired on NBC channel in 1975.

In 1977, John also appeared in The Betty White Show, a short-lived sitcom, aired on CBS. He rose to fame as Jonathan Quayle Higgins, a former British Army Sergeant Major, in the crime drama series, Magnum, P.I. Aside from several nominations, his performance in the series earned him the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for TV in 1983 and an Emmy Award for Outstanding Continuing Performance by a Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 1987.
In 1982, he played the role of Fritz, the Monocle in the pilot of the adventure TV show, Tales of the Gold Monkey. John also hosted David Hemmings’ contest video, Money Hunt: The Mystery of the Missing Link. During the 90’s, his returned to television seen him in a performance for one season in the American sitcom, The Hogan Family. He was later seen as Dr John H. Watson in the British made-for-TV mystery film, Hands of a Murderer, alongside Edward Woodward, who played as Sherlock Holmes. In 1993, John appeared in one season of Berlin Break. He made a cameo in the 1996 comedy film, A Very Brady Sequel.
