Hugh Marlowe is an actor of America who works on motion pictures, television shows, radio, and plays.
He was born on the 30th of January, 1911, in Philadelphia, city of Pennsylvania state, USA. He worked in a show, which aired on the radio called Brenda Curtis. He played the character of Jim Curtis in it. He bagged for himself the lead role in another radio program named The Adventures of Ellery Queen.
He started his stage career in the historic Pasadena Playhouse of California. Then, he was seen performing in New York City. He performed in dramas such as Arrest That Woman, in 1966. He also showcased his talent in the prestigious Broadway theaters. The Land is Bright, Kiss the Boys Goodbye, and Duet for Two Hands, were some of his early plays there. Lady in the Dark, was also one such musical, with music by Kurt Weill, which was reproduced in Broadway in 1941.
He then graduated to movies with his first movie being, Married Before Breakfast, in 1937. He got casted as a supporting actor in excellent films such as All About Eve, in the year 1950,

He starred in a few episodes of the famous TV program, ‘Crossroads’, playing rather unusual characters. He also acted as a guest on The Andy Griffith Show, which was owned by the TV network, CBS. Working in the TV show, ‘Rawhide’, he was given the character of Sam Garner in one of its episodes. Coincidentally, he also acted in a motion picture of the same title, in 1951. Afterwards, he made several appearances on CBS’s crime drama titled,

. In this series, he played roles ranging from murder victims and their relatives, to sub- inspectors. Two other notable jobs on television he was engaged with were ‘Hazel’, and ‘Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea’. He played a news daily reporter in the former program and a documentarian for TV, in the latter.
His last venture was Another World, in which he acts as the patriarch of the family. This role had been done by three actors previously.
He died because of a heart attack on 2nd May, 1982.
