Humberto Busto is a Mexican film artist who works primarily as an actor and director. He was born on 23rd June 1978 in the Federal District of Mexico City, the capital of Mexico; he has acted in numerous films and a few TV series appearances. Busto’s first ever movie released in the year 2000. Titled Amores Perros, meaning 'Love’s a Bitch’, it is a complicated story about how one particular car crash affects the life of three different individual stories involving different sets of people.
It was well received by critics and went on to win many awards, including a BAFTA Award for Best Film Not in English Language, top honours at Fantasporto 2001 and Critics Week award at Cannes. It was also a nominee for an Oscar award in the category of Best Foreign Language Film. Busto’s next big hit came in the form of Borderland. The movie is based on real-life incidents involving an individual named Adolfo de Jesus Constanzo, a drug lord who also headed a religious cult that that indulged in the sacrifice of humans. It received rave reviews from critics.
His next project was a comedy entitled Manuela and Manuel, in which he plays a transgender character who has to pretend to be a regular male to help out a friend for a while. The movie did not do good numbers as his previous efforts. He then starred in the film Mas Alla De Mi, which translates to 'beyond 'Â me in English. It saw him return to more serious work which garnered his films good reviews.
The film revolves around a group of friends and the way their life changes when they meet a girl who is running away from her own family. He made his television film debut in 2010 when he starred in the movie 'Dinoshark'. The film received negative comments by critics although some believed it to fall into the category of being “so bad that it was almost good.’’ Another movie he is well known for is After Lucia.
The film revolves around the trials and tribulations faced by a young girl when a sex tape of hers is released and causes her to be the victim of bullying. It won an award at Cannes and was even selected as the Mexican entrant at the Academy Awards under the category of Best Foreign Film but did not make the final cut. His next project is entitled 'The Mongolian Conspiracy' and will be released in the year 2016.
