Harvey Fierstein

Harvey Fierstein is an actor, voice actor, and playwright and is famous for his role in Torch Song Trilogy. He was awarded the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play for Torch Song Trilogy; it was a play about a gay performer who is searching true love and a family. Harvey is openly gay and writes columns about gay issues. Fierstein made his acting debut with the play Pork by Andy Warhol. He acted in three plays at La Ma Ma after he made his debut at La MaMa. The three-stage shows that Harvey did were Torch Song Trilogy, A Catered Affair, La Cage Aux Folles and Robert Patrick’s The Haunted Host was shown in La Ma Ma, Boston, and Off-Broadway. His acting was critically appreciated when he appeared in Hairspray in2002, he played the character of Edna Turnblad and won a Tony Award for Best Leading Actor in a Musical.
