. Bart started acting in ‘Gidget Goes Hawaiian’, for which he dropped out of college and married Mary by the time the filming was done. Coppola is a film director, producer and screenwriter. The duo worked together in Coppola’s Dementia 13, a horror-thriller, produced by Roger Corman.
After Dementia 13, Bart worked as production manager and assistant director for the movie Spider Baby, which was directed by Jack Hill and featured Mary Mitchell as a co-star along with Lon Chaney, Jr. and Carol Ohmart. The movie was a black comedy horror film and was adapted into various forms on the stage. It was remade in 2007, by Tony DiDio as the producer featuring Jack Hill as executive producer and Jeff Broadstreet as director. After Spider Baby, Bart made his first film, Beach Ball, as a producer. The movie impressed the likes of Universal Pictures. MCA and Universal got into a contract in 1965 for Patton and filmmaker Lennie Weinrib to produce 14 rock and-roll movies in a couple of years time.
In 2000, Bart directed his first film, Unshackled, which came down as the longest-running radio drama ever made.
The couple Mary Mitchel and Bart Patton got married on 2 September 1961 and divorced on 18 January 1980. They had two children, and one of them was named Tyler Patton. The actor Tony Dingman is the brother of Mary.
