Colin O Donoghue

Colin O’ Donoghue is an Irish musician and actor. He was born in Drogheda, County Louth, Ireland. He was born in a Roman Catholic family to Con and Mary O’ Donoghue. He also has a brother Allen. Allen is an author by profession. He did his schooling in Dundalk Grammar School and then went to The Gaiety School of Acting, Dublin. O’ Donoghue in his teens went to Paris to learn French for a month. He acted in many theatre plays, Television shows and films in the United Kingdom and Ireland. In theatres of U.S. and Ireland, he staged plays like Aoife and Isobel, The Dreamer of a Summer Day, Eclipse, Leaving, Eugene Onegin- The Roadshow, Moonlight Mickey’s, Walking the Road, Othello, Outlying Islands, The Taming of the Shrew, Sky Road, and What the Dead Want. In television, Colin started working in 2001with Rebel Heart.

His other works include Home for Christmas as Norman Quested (2002), Love Is the Drug as Peter (2004), Proof as Jamie (2005), Fair City as Emmet Fitzgerald (2005), The Clinic as Conor Elliot (2006-08), The Tudors as Duke Philip (2009), Wild Decembers as Young Guard (2009), Identity as John Bloom (2011), and Once Upon a Time as Captain Hook. Once Upon a Time TV series was started in 2012 and is still on the air. O’ Donoghue also worked in various motion pictures starting in the year 2003 from a short film Call Girl.

He played the character named Brendan in the film. His upcoming movies are The Dust Storm by Anthony Baldino & Ryan Lacen and Carrie Pilby by Susan Johnson. Colin O’ Donoghue also featured in Christina Perri’s The Words music video in 2015. He has won the Irish Film and Television Awards for Best New Talent for the TV film Home for Christmas in the year 2003. He was nominated for People’s Choice and Teen Choice Awards for his TV series Once Upon a Time in 2014 and 2015 respectively. Colin is a member of The Enemies- a five piece band from his native Ireland. O’ Donoghue is the guitarist for the energetic pop-rock band.

Their self-funded first album “Sounds Big On the Radio” is set to release next year. Colin is married to a schoolteacher Helen and has a son Evan James O’ Donoghue from the marriage. Evan was born 1 August 2013. He is currently residing in Vancouver, Canada. He considers Eddie Vedder as his idol.
