Irina Shayk

Irina Shayk is an actress and Russian model. She was born in Emanzhelisk town of Russia. Her father Valery Shaykhlislamov was a coal miner and her mother Olga was a music teacher at kindergarten. She is a half Russian and half Volga Tatar. She believes that her looks are inherited from her father, and she got the color of her eyes from her mother. People often think her to be a native South-American as Irina’s father was a dark-skinned Tatar. She also has a sister whose name is Tatiana. Her mother wanted her to learn music, so Irina got enrolled in a music school and started learning piano and singing in the choir. Irina was just 14 years old when her father died of pneumonia complications leaving her family financially unstable and forcing her mother to work out two jobs to meet the needs of the family.

After completing her high school studies, Irina joined marketing as her study stream but couldn’t make her mark in it, so she tried in beauty school along with her sister. While she was there, she got noticed by a person who got influenced by her beauty and advised her to participate in the 2004 Miss Chelyabinsk beauty contest in which she won. In the year 2007, she became the face of Italian clothing label Intimissimi replacing Ana Beatriz Barros. In the same year she debuted for the American magazine annual Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and since then she appears in every annual edition of the magazine.

In the year 2010, she got declared as the official brand ambassador of Intimissimi after being collaborated for about three years with the brand. She was also a model for the Armani Exchange in their summer/spring campaign of 2010. She also got marked in the first place the list of “50 Hottest Russian Women” by American magazine Complex. She appeared on the Kanye West’s album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy song Power. In the same year, she earned the title of Best International Model from Glamour magazine. At the end of the year 2010, she got stuck in an issue of GQ magazine and accused them of altering her images without her consent. Talking of her beauty, she is number 14 in the Models.com list of Top 20 Sexiest Models and titled as the Sexiest Woman in the World in Periodika magazine. She has collaborated with the top commercial brands and modeled for them. Amongst them, some were L’Oreal Paris, Cosmopolitan, La Clover, Vogue Spain, Harper’s Bazaar, Armani, Lacoste, Intimissimi and many others. In the year 2015, she got signed up by L’Oreal Paris to be the brand’s International Spokesperson. She made her acting debut in the year 2014 with the film Hercules:
