Carter DeHaven (D.O.B- October 5, 1886) was an actor, director, and scriptwriter from America. He appeared in numerous movies and also acted on stage. Born as Francis O’Callaghan in Chicago, Illinois, he started out his entertainment career in vaudeville. He is the brother of actress Rose DeHaven. He started acting in movies while he was still a teenager in 1915 and frequently starred in short comic films until 1923. He had the ability to quick-change and transform himself in seconds. Quick-change is a performance style in which a performer or magician changes quickly within seconds from one costume into another costume in front of the audience. This ability of his has been skillfully depicted in the 1927 short film “Character Studies”, in which he easily transforms into major stars of the era.
He also worked with Charlie Chaplin Charles Chaplin popularly known as Charlie Chaplin >> Read More... , as an assistant director, on Modern Times in 1936 and as an assistant producer for “the Great Dictator”, in which he played a Bacterian Ambassador. He also worked on the CBS television series Johnny Ringo. He also had a guest appearance on the sitcom “The Donna Reed Show”. He has his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He married actress Flora Parker. They often worked together on various films, appearing as a pair. Their daughter, Gloria DaHaven is also an actress. After they had got divorced, he married Evelyn Burd, by whom he had a son, Carter DeHaven Jr., also an actor and a director. Carter DeHaven expired in 1977, aged 90 and was rested at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Glendale, California, USA.
