Eryck Abecassis is an artist known as a songwriter, musician and guitarist. His journey into the world of music, which includes many genres from orchestra to electronic music, is both colorful and inspiring. Eric's acting career began in 1976 when he moved to Paris to study cinema. During this time, he also discovered his talent as a photographer. However, in 1979 he decided to turn his attention to the world of music, a decision that would shape his future as a prolific composer. One of Rick's main achievements is his participation in scientific research at IRCAM (Institute for Research and Collaboration in Music/Acoustics) in Paris.
Here he delved into the world of computer music, expanding his creative horizons and pushing the boundaries of experimental music. Eryck Abecassis was commissioned to create music for conservative organizations and institutions, including the French Press, Gmem, Ina-Grm, Grame and the French Government. His works have been presented at international music festivals such as “Présences”, “Marseille Music Festival”, “Lyon Scene Music Festival”, “Danish Amplitude Music Festival” and “Padua Computer Art Festival”.
As an electronic musician, Eryck has toured the world and attracted audiences in Spain, Brazil, Germany, Austria, the United Kingdom, Sweden, South Korea and Italy. His unique style is linked to modern and electronic music, often referred to as "loud noise". His work is noted for its extensive use of computers, creating avant-garde and attractive music. Eryck Abecassis brings his musical talents to the world of cinema as well as concerts and festivals. He has composed music for films and TV shows, including Hava Aney Dey directed by Partho Sen-Gupta. His ability to compose music that enhances the story on the big screen is a testament to his prowess as a writer.
Eric's involvement also included the performance phase. He appeared in the credits of such performances as “Les Carnets de Junko” and “Bâtisseurs” and collaborated with many theaters, including Christophe Tarkos' small theater “La Cage”. In the orchestral world, Eric created Kammerzirkus for a small orchestra, demonstrating his ability to create complex and evocative soundscapes that resonate with the audience.
The electroacoustic dimension of his works is evident in works such as the 8-track “Mondes Dérangés”, which pushes the limits of sonic experimentation. Multimedia creations such as Eryck Abecassis's “Poupées-Fantômes” incorporate piano, percussion, computer-generated sound and film to provide an experience that transcends traditional theatre.
